Robin receives the seal of approval from the Nevada GOP

The Nevada Republican Party has issued official candidate endorsements for the upcoming 2014 Republican Primary elections. At the biennial Nevada Republican Convention held this past Saturday, over 500 elected convention delegates gathered to handle party business matters, which included a vote to determine which candidates would earn the Party’s official endorsement in the upcoming 2014 primary elections.

The Nevada Republican Party’s pre-primary endorsement process was initially conceived in early 2013, when members of the Party’s governing body, the Nevada Republican Central Committee, directed its Nominating and Candidate Recruitment Committee to develop an evaluation and vetting process that would help to educate voters about which candidates best represent the Party’s platform and principles. Over the past year, the Nominating Committee developed an objective process for making recommendations using a combination of surveys, interviews, incumbent voting history data, and other pertinent information provided by the candidates who volunteered to participate. Those recommendations were then provided to the delegates to the biennial Nevada Republican Convention, where they were used to help determine if an endorsement should be granted to a particular candidate.

Michael McDonald, Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, stated, “These endorsements will provide Republican primary voters with a valuable recommendation they can consider as they decide candidates they’ll vote for in the upcoming primary elections.” McDonald added, “By obtaining the endorsement of the Party and participating in its rigorous vetting process, these endorsed candidates have given their assurance that they will represent the principles of the grass roots Republicans who are the backbone of our party. Furthermore, these candidates can also be expected to honor our Party Platform as they advance to the general election and eventually on to elected office.”

Candidates endorsed include incumbent Governor Brian Sandoval, Lieutenant Governor candidate Sue Lowden, Attorney General candidate Adam Laxalt, and House of Representatives candidates Annette Teijero and Niger Innis, along with incumbent Representatives Mark Amodei and Joe Heck. Endorsements were also granted in several other statewide races as well as many races for Nevada Senate and Assembly. A full list of endorsed candidates is here.
